 We are delighted to announce that the Charm Poetry Competition for April 2021 is now open for entries. Check out the competition details, read the rules and then enter the competition!

Can't wait?

 We aren't quite ready to launch yet, but if you can't wait to enter your poem in a competition, here are a few that are closing soon:

• The Slipstream competition closes on 28 February, so you have just over a week left to enter.
• The Rialto Nature and Place competition, in association with the RSPB and Birdlife International, closes one day later. Also closing that day is the Poets and Players competition.
• And if you're aged 18-30, you can also compete for the Jane Martin Poetry Prize, which closes on 5 March.

Welcome to Charm Poetry!

Prize-winning poems are usually on serious subjects. Free-form poems are more common than traditional structures, and rhyme is rare. We’d like to change some of that.

So entertain us. Brighten our day. We like warmth, wordplay, wit and whimsy. We believe it’s possible to write a good poem that conforms to these guidelines. We're working on setting up this competition, and we'd like you to prove us right.
